How I Organize My Makeup
(and extreme product descriptions)

Please notice my arm in that mirror |
Hey, y'all! I've been meaning to get around to publishing the various things in our house that I try to keep organized (possible post on those coming soon), but, due to some of them being ungodly unorganized, I got behind on my personal schedule and my posting schedule!
So, as always, I have to state that this post is as plain and simple as the title. It's how I organize my small makeup space next to our bed! To organize my makeup, I put it all on top of a table that I bought from Ikea for $55. I am by no means a beauty guru who owns a ton of makeup and has endless expertise on it all, but I do own enough that I need to have a table space for it.
Let's get to the note so cute mess that I had going on.
As you can see, everything was just kind of scattered across the table and not living inside of their respective homes (storage space). I'm a person that lives by a system that "everything has a place to go" and it needs to look as neat as possible. But, much like any other human, I can fall short in my cleaning schedule and things can get a little scattered from time to time.
To make matters worse, I impulsively bought a few things from Mac, Ulta, Target, and Sephora the day before organizing and cleaning the desk. This definitely added to my tiny mess, and it left me scrambling to find storage for these things-this is when I realized I need to eventually buy more containers and storage space.
If it makes it any better, I should point out that I bought a vanity tray on sale for $13.99 from Target-which is great for organization. The only shameful part is that I literally went into Target for a Sharpie. I went into Target for one Sharpie, y'all. What did I leave target with? I left with a faux marble clock, chalkboard jar, a chair, makeup brushes, a vanity tray, and the wrong Sharpie. Just let that sink in.
Meanwhile, let's be proud that I did leave with something to declutter my makeup table-and that is all that matters in this post. Don't worry, I (falsely) justified everything that I bought on this Target run to my girlfriend. Because, that's what Target does to people. It makes you create random reasons why you must have that random item and then it leaves you stuck with a messy makeup table, unsure where to put all the things that you didn't need to buy.
Honestly, some of these pictures make the mess look way better than it did in person.
So, here it is! My coveted little space next to our bed that I constantly have to compromise on. I cherish my little table because it's my little space and I feel like I can really take on the day when I get ready at it. Honestly, I really use this table to write blog posts on and I do my makeup in the bathroom when I'm in a rush. But on a good day, catch me at this table before going to work or on a cute couple outing.
A lot of these products were discontinued. And, honestly, that's my makeup luck. I find something that I really like and it is discontinued shortly after. When I get a feeling that a product is close to being discontinued (or the sales girl literally tells me they're already discontinued/won't be producing more), I get a little weird and I buy what's left of the entire stock. So, I own about 15+ of the Victoria's Secret Lip Crayons (they're in a separate storage container that I keep in my bathroom). I have a problem. I can't help it.

Taa-Da! |
Basically, this is how I do it! It's not some complex system, but I do believe that everything has its home! I hope this was helpful in some way, and gave a few extra tips for all the product lovers out there. I actually didn't intend for this post to be so detailed with the products, but I thought that'd give a better visual on what exactly fits into the containers. Feel free to comment and let me know of other organization methods and containers that work for you guys!
Stay beautiful!
